My grandfather served in the US Navy for 30 years. That’s him looking dapper. As a kid, I loved listening to his stories, and he ALWAYS had a story. On Veterans Day last year, after seeing countless Facebook posts honoring our troops, I thought of my grandfather and asked myself what I could do to give back that would make him proud. As a musician, I started out by writing a song. Momentum built as several friends, each with their own military connections and stories, volunteered their support to make Welcome Me Home not just a song, but a movement.

The Welcome Me Home project is an effort to bring the sacrifice of America’s service members back into public consciousness. Amid all of life’s distractions, it’s easy to forget there’s still a war going on, and thousands of troops continue to serve our country away from their families and the comforts of home.
